Football’s Greatest Ever Collectible
About Brazil 1970
Brazil’s 1970 national team is widely regarded as one of the most complete teams football has ever produced. Brazil had already lifted the World Cup twice, in 1958 and 1962, with the already legendary Pelé central to both triumphs. The 1958 tournament announced him to the world as a teenage phenomenon and approaching the twilight of his top flight career by 1970, Pelé still remained the beating heart of an extraordinary team.

A 16” x 20” photographic Limited Edition Print shows the line up of the Brazilian and Italian teams at the FIFA World Cup Final at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on 21 June 1970.
The print is a first-generation original from the archive of an established UK photographic agency.
The Build-up
The road to Mexico City was far from smooth. Just months before the tournament, Brazil stumbled to a 1–1 draw in a friendly against Bangu, a modest Rio-based club. On a wet evening outside the city, the performance drew loud jeers from supporters, only highlighting growing doubts about their team’s readiness.
As training began, Brazil had no guarantees of success. Ninety-nine days later, Carlos Alberto lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy at a jubilant Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. He had sealed a 4–1 victory over Italy with a goal that capped one of the most celebrated footballing victories ever. The win cemented the nation’s footballing legacy as an all-time great, three-times victorious World Cup-winning team.
Sports Memorabilia
Sports memorabilia has firmly established itself as a collector's asset class, transforming passion into profit for collectors and investors alike. Over the last decade, auction houses have smashed expectations with iconic signed pieces commanding six and seven-figure prices, proving the market’s resilience and growth.
Brazil's 1970 Journey
To millions of fans around the world, they were, quite simply, the greatest group of players ever assembled. And when Gloria’s Paul Joseph set out to track down every surviving member of Brazil's 1970 World Cup team, it was to become the 40,000-mile adventure of a lifetime.
Gloria secured the rights to produce a giant-sized, limited-edition version of Pelé's official autobiography. Each volume would be hand-signed by the man himself and contain autobiographical text, plus rarely seen images and newly commissioned journalism by eminent football writers.
"A series of incandescent performances that bestowed upon them the title, still unchallenged, of the best international
team ever seen."
— Richard Williams, The Guardian, 2022
